Write an Ebook: How to Sell More Copies of Every Ebook You Create

without comments

Want to sell more copies of every ebook you create? You can; if you have a strategy to follow. Use the tactics I’ll show you below, and your sales will not only increase, but you’ll sell more with each week that passes.

I’ve been creating and selling information products for a decade. It’s a wonderful business for anyone who wants to work from home, setting their own hours.

It’s also a lucrative business model. Bestselling ebooks sell millions of copies. However, even modest sales will provide a great income for you.

Let’s get started.

1. Get Eager Buyers With a List

Your first and most important tactic is to create a mailing list for everyone who’s interested in your topic. Your mailing list is the hub of your strategy. It allows you to contact people at will.

You need a list because people need to hear your product mentioned several times before they buy. Think about your own buying habits. When you hear of a new product, your curiosity is aroused, but you won’t buy until you’ve considered the product carefully, and have decided how you’ll use it.

A tip: use a commercial autoresponder Web application to manage your lists. You’ll have better delivery and open rates if you do.

2. Give Some of Your Ebook Away to Your List

Create a list as soon as you start work on your ebook. You can discuss your upcoming ebook, and give snippets away to arouse curiosity.

You can also educate your list members on the topic of your ebook.

Remember to treat your members well. Give them information, and entertainment. You’re aiming to build relationships which will endure over time.

You can turn members into fans of your brand. Chances are that over the years, if you treat them well, each member will buy several of your products.

3. Develop a Blog As a Launch Pad

When you start working on your ebook, create a blog for it. I’ve noticed that those of my information products which have an accompanying blog, do much better than those which do not.

This makes sense. Every blog post you write becomes a page on the Web, and is another opportunity for buyers to find your product once it’s launched.

4. Make It Easy for Readers: Launch Your Ebooks in Several Formats

Your ebooks can sell for many years. Therefore, offer them in several formats. In addition to PDF, consider additional electronic publication formats, such as that for the Amazon Kindle.

You could also consider creating an MP3 of your ebook’s content.

Survey your list members and blog readers. Ask them which formats they would prefer. This is one of the benefits of creating a platform for your publications: you’ll sell more, because you’re giving people exactly what they want.

You don’t need to offer every format on your product’s launch. Add additional formats over time.

If you feel that your ebook would benefit from paper publication, you can use a Print on Demand (POD) service, and offer it on Amazon other other online bookstores.

Ebook writing and selling can be a very lucrative business. With a little thought and creativity, you can sell more of every ebook you create.

Writing an Ebook: 4 Simple Secrets to Success

without comments

nookreader.jpg

Are you writing an ebook? It’s an exciting time to be a writer, because your opportunities have never been greater. Today there are numerous sales channels on which you can publish your digital book with confidence.

I’ve been creating info products since 2000 and in this article I’ll share four simple secrets which will help you to success.

1. Before you start writing, research to discover the best market.

It’s best to decide on several topics, and then explore the marketplace for each before you settle on your best idea.

Your first step is to ensure that your market is actually online. The easiest way to do this is to check whether there are any discussion forums for people who are interested in this area. If there aren’t any forums, these people aren’t interacting online, and therefore won’t be available to buy your creations.

2. When you’ve decided on a topic, commit to marketing your ebook immediately.

Yes, that’s right: market your ebook while you’re writing it. This builds an audience, and not only does this help you to make more sales, it also motivates you to write because you know you have readers.

3. Create a writing schedule.

Your book can be short, but you’ll still need to fit writing into your daily life. Rather than looking for broad swathes of time, write whenever you have a spare half hour.

4. Decide on your distribution channels.

You can certainly sell your ebook directly from your website, but these days there are many other distribution channels open to you.

You’ll want to consider Amazon’s Kindle, as well as other channels. However, limit yourself to a maximum of two or three channels. If you publish your ebook on every available platform, not only will this take up a lot of time but it will also make your marketing more complex than it needs to be.

Writing and selling ebooks is a wonderful business. With the explosion of new distribution channels it promises to be highly profitable in 2011.

Ebook Strategies: How to Sell More Ebooks

without comments

Want to make more money selling your ebook? You can double your profits from your ebook just by selling more copies — this is commonsense. What if you could sell ten copies a day instead of ten a week or a month?

1. Get the Word out: Find Additional Ways to Promote the Product

The key to selling more copies is to get your ebook in front of more potential customers. The more people who know that your ebook is available, the better your chances of selling additional copies.

Many ebook publishers do this by joining affiliate programs. What no one ever tells you however is that most affiliate networks sell a lot of a few very popular products. The majority of the book sellers don’t make any money at all from joining an affiliate network.

Therefore spend time and energy looking for additional ways in which you can promote your product yourself. Consider both free and paid methods.

2. Invest in the Ebook: Buy Advertising

If you want to sell more, you have to advertise more. Think of large companies which spend millions of dollars every year in advertising. They wouldn’t spend this money if it wasn’t utterly necessary. So if you’ve avoiding spending money on advertising now is the time to create a Pay Per Click campaign.

3. Boost Sales With a “Free” Version

This is an old tactic but when it’s used correctly it’s an extremely good one.

You boost to sales when you offer a free version of your ebook as a short report. This gets people onto your email list. If they won’t buy your ebook the first time they hear about it, maybe they’ll buy it in the future. Once they’re on your email list of course, you’ve got the opportunity to sell additional products.

4. Offer a Hard Copy Version

Many people still prefer to read away from the computer screen. There are many companies which will turn your ebook into a print book.

5. Turn Your Ebook Into a Course

Almost any ebook can be turned into a course. If you don’t want to do this yourself you can outsource production of your course. You may find that many people who buy your ebook, also buy your course.

Ebooks: Provide solutions, and sell more

without comments

Selling ebooks is a popular way of making money online, because many people go online in order to find solutions to their problems.

When you provide your Web site visitors solutions with your ebooks, you’ll sell more. But how do you know what solutions to provide?

You start by thinking about problems. There are an endless number of problems people have – they’re overweight, they’re over their credit card limit, they want a job or a better job, and on and on.

Your problem-solving ebooks can provide solutions in an endless variety of areas. Often, ideas for ebooks will come from your own experiences.

Write and sell ebooks based on your own experiences

For example, let’s say that you’re thinking about buying a digital camera so you can take photos at a relative’s wedding. A good digital camera is expensive, and it occurs to you that people who buy digital cameras may be looking for solutions to making money with their camera.

So you research whether “making money with your digital camera” is a real problem people have. This would fit under the general category of “make money from home”. Many people do have the problem of not having enough money, so that ebook has potential.

Think solutions, not ebook niches (topics)

In Internet marketing, “niches” has become a popular term. You can easily waste time looking for fresh niches in which you can write and sell ebooks. However, unless your ebooks solve problems, they won’t sell.

Where to find problems people have

There are many places you can find out what problems people have for which they’ll buy an ebook solution.

Try:

* Bookstores – the Health and Self Help sections are crammed with books which provide solutions to problems;

* Magazines – many magazines provide solutions to their readers’ problems. Don’t forget to scan the advertisements. Millions are spent on researching people’s needs for products and services;

* Asking your friends and relatives about their problems.

When you start to think about the solutions you can provide people, you’ll sell more ebooks. Start today. Everyone has problems – you can provide solutions with your ebooks.
